The Large Magellanic Cloud
The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is one of the Milky Way’s satellite galaxies. Astronomers classify it as an irregular galaxy with a mass roughly 1 percent that of our star system. In this image you can see the spectacular Tarantula Nebula (NGC 2070) to the upper left of the main body of the LMC.
